Yo Gabba Halloween

Almost a month later... Happy Halloween! ;) We're all settled (kinda?) in our temp home in Newtown, and I'm playing major blog catch up! I feel much more calm/less stressed with our house taken care of!

Halloween was a bit bittersweet this year since we knew we were moving in two weeks, so it was the last big event we had at daycare, and the last social event we went to in our old neighborhood!

Both kids had special outfits for school the Friday before Halloween. Emmy wore Nolan's old skeleton pajamas he wore on his first halloween, and Nolan had a "new to him" skeleton t-shirt.

Can they be any sweeter?? I think I need more matching outfits.

Halloween fun AND it's Pizza Day at school!!! Someone is excited :)

The school halloween parade is one of my favorite events all year. It only lasts a few minutes, but nothing can really touch how adorable it is! Plus this year we got to watch for two cute kiddos parading through the parking lot! First up was Emmy's class (the parade goes from youngest to oldest). We were lucky enough to have two of the same teachers as when Nolan was in the infant room: Miss Cindy and Miss Anna. Emmy was a strawberry for the parade, and was riding in the buggy!

While Emmy completed her parading, we waited for big brother Nolan to come out!  Here he is with his "Preschool 1" Class with teachers Miss Kyle and Miss Lisa. This was the first year Nolan chose his own costume! Since he was obsessed with the color green, and we had been on a "Go Gabba Gabba" TV kick lately, he chose Brobee from the show ("because he's green and I like green!"). Since the show is no longer on the air, it proved to not be the easiest thing to find, but funnily enough when I listed I was looking for one on my yard sale site (with not very high hopes), someone responded that they had the entire family! It was too good to pass up, especially since we had a party to attend (Halloween was on a Saturday this year).

It was so fun to have Halloween on a Saturday this year! We headed over to Havertown for a party at Leslie's house ( a friend of my GSK coworker Colleen), and the same group we trick or treated with last year. All the kids ran around and played together until it started to get dark, and we all walked around the neighborhood for trick or treating.

The entire Yo Gabba Gabba family! Foofa (Kate), Toodee (Emmy), Muno (Joe), and Brobee (Nolan). All we needed was Plex the Robot and DJ Lance!

All ready for Trick or Treating!

...But first let's take a selfie ;)

Kiddos lined up on the driveway before heading out. Glow stick necklaces and bracelets for everyone!

Excited kids about to head out
Trick or Treating was so much fun! We had to (repeatedly) tell Nolan not to run as he (repeatedly) kept falling/tripping! But he was so excited that it was adorable. It was funny when people asked him what type of candy he liked - he has no idea, but would just repeat one of the choices they said.

Now that's a good dad!
Emmy was such a trooper. She chilled happily in the stroller the whole time, eventually falling asleep. She'll be more of an "active participant" next year.

I was having so much fun I would have gone all night, but Nolan was pretty tired after about an hour so we called it quits and headed home. Emmy had been asleep for awhile by that time as well.
Perfect Halloween!
I was all for being a "chill mom" and letting Nolan eat a bunch of candy this year (he's never really had candy at the point with the exception of the occasional m&m's). He was excited to try things, but didn't really like any of it (except plan m&ms and a few licks of lollipops). More for mommy and daddy I guess! We were grinches this year and turned off our lights while we were out. When we got home, trick or treaters were still out, but I had to put Emmy to bed and we didn't want people ringing the doorbell so we kept them off. I felt so guilty about it, but it's just so hard with little kids without actively sitting outside yourself. Looking forward to next year when we're (hopefully) in a cute new neighborhood for a whole new experience! Halloween is such a fun holiday with children!
