Our 2nd part of our PNW trip started on Sunday morning as we packed up our stuff in Portland and loaded up the car to head to Bend. But first, we went hiking with our friends in nearby Columbia River Gorge, which is on the border of OR and WA. We also had lunch in Hood River and went cherry picking before going our separate ways. A great day!

The drive to Columbia River Gorge was absolutely beautiful with all the tall pines lining the highway and beautiful mountains. We both fell in love with the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. About an hour away from Portland gets you to some really great hiking! We went to the Wahclella Falls section and hiked to beautiful waterfalls that was the perfect amount of length and difficulty for a young family.

Even though our trip to Oregon landed during a historic heatwave, and much hotter than we would have liked, we are so thankful to have visited the Columbia River Gorge when we did because only a week or two later it was completely ablaze with out of control wildfires, that still are not completely controlled :( I'm sure it now will look different until it can grow back - so sad. Thankful for this beautiful memory and pictures!
After we worked up an appetite hiking, we headed over to nearby mountain town Hood River, OR for lunch at Double Mountain Brewery. It was a popular place so we hung out for a bit outside waiting for a table.
After a yummy lunch (and of course beer!) we headed for one last adventure together before we parted ways. We went nearby to Draper Girls - originally we had peaches in mind to pick, but they weren't quite ready yet, so cherry picking it was instead!

We filled up a bucket, split up the fruit to take our separate ways. The kids found a "lucky penny" and took turns as pirates in the fruit stand (these boys were overtired!)

| Kids had a great time! |
It was a tough goodbye - all the kids cried! Emmy was getting car sick frequently during our trip so we had to do an outfit change (again). After a painful start to the drive to Bend, the kids eventually conked out and we got to enjoy the beautiful scenery in peace! Bend trip up for the last post!
