Nolan's First Easter Egg Hunt!

The Saturday before Easter, we took Nolan on his first Easter Egg Hunt! After trying in vain to find a very local hunt we saw advertised on a flyer that morning, we decided to regroup over lunch and head over to the adorable town of Narberth for a bigger hunt! The upside of a larger organized hunt is that it was organized by age group so Nolan's could be in a little area roped off for 0-2 year olds.

Before we left the house, I looked through our saved easter baskets, grabbed one and a few empty plastic eggs and did a "practice" run in our front yard so he knew to pick up the eggs and put them in his basket. He caught on right away so I knew we were ready to go! :)

The calm before the storm. Nolan's first Easter Egg Hunt!
We got to the park about 10 minutes before the Easter Egg hunt was scheduled to start so we had to do our best to distract Nolan from getting the eggs (and not going to the playground where we'd never be able to get him out of without tears before the race!) We mostly just walked around with him and let him swing around his basket.

The Easter Bunny came out while we were waiting. This is about as close as Nolan would come :)

Saying Hi from afar
I was so proud of Nolan during the start! They had a countdown from 10, which I'm not sure if he's ever done before, but he just took off in front of everyone when we yelled "GO!" - Future track star??

The funniest thing about this hunt is how Nolan selected his eggs. He would not choose any eggs that had "mismatched" color sides - only solid color eggs. Of course we have never told him to do that, I believe this is just another part of his "neat and organized" personality coming through (He gets that from his Dad!) I actually didn't even notice the pattern until after I looked in his basket and only saw solid colored eggs. Joe said he noticed right away and that Nolan tossed back eggs that didn't fit his criteria.

Yup, this one is OK. My little inspector
Nolan did a great job during the hunt! The only "mishap" happened when Nolan stepped on an egg and fell flat on his back :( He was distressed for a moment, but a mommy hug cured all. He was pretty much done looking after that, but still managed to get quite a bit of eggs!

What's THAT?

We all had a great time! Even though Nolan didn't eat any of his candy this year (maybe next year!) he loved finding the eggs. Looking forward to going to lots more hunts as he gets older :)
