Apple Picking

Got a major game of catch-up going on still! Back in...ahem... September... we met our good friends Mike and Dave and their daughters Abby and Ashley at Linvilla Farms for Apple Picking. It was a little warm for this fall activity, but it was a gorgeous day, and to say Nolan loved it is a big understatement. It's now several months later and he's STILL talking about it. When we went back to Linvilla more recently for the pumpkins, we was asking to go to the apple picking section instead. Unlike the pumpkin picking (which was ridiculously crowded), apple picking in mid-September was wonderful. Very light crowds, lots of room to run around, and tons of apples right at Nolan's height to pick to his heart's desire.

He didn't need to be told twice how it's done!

Mike and Ashley - this was our first time meeting her!

Nolan in the tree! He kept tripping on the apples on the ground.

Whoa! There are SO many apples!

Even though it was hot, he didn't want to take his fall shirt off :)

Cute family! Dave, Abby, Mike, and Ashley

How many apples do we have?!

He loved the room to roam

Excited to pull down a high one himself

Daddy's turn to help!

That one looks good!

We filled the whole box!
This was definitely one of Nolan's favorite activities from the Fall. It was challenging trying to use all those apples up! After eating tons raw, making apple sauce, apple cobbler, butternut squash and apple soup (two-for-one using up CSA butternut squash too) we still didn't use them all! I'll have to start looking for more ways to use them since we'll almost certainly be back next year - this time as a family of four!
