A Super Hero Halloween!

Slowly but surely working my way through 2016 highlights! Next up is Halloween. It was not even a question of what Nolan was going to be this year - he has been super hero obsessed all year and Iron Man was always his #1. Since Emmy was too young to voice an opinion, I made the executive decision to keep the theme going and got her a Super Girl costume. I loved both costumes (and so did the kids!)

Iron Man and Super Girl 2016!

Our school had the Halloween Parade on the Friday before Halloween (Halloween landed on a Monday this year - boooo!!) So we had 2 days of dressing up. The "parade" is an extremely short walk around the school blacktop that lasted all of 5 minutes after all the build-up, but was still adorable :)

Emmy leading her class out onto the blacktop!

She was looking so hard for us, but we were hiding so that she'd keep walking ;)

spotted! :)

Here comes Nolan's class! Lots of super heroes and there was another Iron Man too!

We LOVED how Nolan kept his hand up in a perpetual wave the entire time - lol!

Some of Nolan's buddies - Henry Thomas as Peter Pan and Evan as Ryder from Paw Patrol.

There's the wave!!!

Probably my favorite part of the event was seeing the kids together inside the school after it was all over. They are just the sweetest brother/sister pair.

Super hero sibling love.

My heart just exploded
All super girl needs is an apple and her paci to save the world ;)

This kid gets in character!!

The two Iron Men - Nolan and Mason!

Me and my girl <3
So proud after the parade!

On Halloween Monday I worked from home then went to Nolan's school for their special class party after which we headed over to his friend's Mason's house to play before going trick or treating with some of his buddies in their neighborhood.

Special Halloween Snack during their class party.
The gang is ready to trick or treat! Violette (Everest from Paw Patrol), Mason (Iron Man), Jaiden (Captain America), Henry Thomas (Peter Pan), Emilia (Super Girl), and Nolan (Iron Man).
So excited to head out!

I didn't get many photos of the actual trick or treating since it got dark quickly and the boys were sprinting from house to house. We were on high alert to make sure everyone stayed together and didn't jump into another trick or treating group by accident (it was a kid-heavy neighborhood!)

Sprinting to the next house! They LOVED it!
Halloween was a huge success this year! There were a few houses that were "too scary" for our crew - fake smoke and automated things jumping out at you on walkways were a bit intense for this age - but overall they loved it. Nolan did not want to stop, but we convinced him to head home to hit up a few more houses in our neighborhood since it was our first halloween there. We did the immediate neighbors surrounding us, the bucket we left out was empty as expected while we were out, gave out some more candy for a bit, then turned the lights off when the kids went down to sleep.

Halloween is one of those holidays that got so much more fun after having kids. I can't wait for next year already <3
