Nolan's 5th Birthday

Time flies when you're having fun, and I need to make sure I document Nolan's 5th Birthday! April 3rd landed on a Monday this year, which isn't very exciting, but we made the best of it!

A few days before his birthday, a big package arrived in the mail from Aunt Mary Beth. She told us he could open it early so he was so excited!

Early Birthday present!

It was a cool car toy you can fix with tools/toy screws and nuts and take off the wheels etc. Plus it had a ramp for race cars in the back which is right up Nolan's ally as he loves his hot wheels cars!

For both Emmy and Nolan this year, I started a tradition of taking one last photo of them at their current age before going to bed and waking up a year older. Nothing is staged in these pics - they are just a slice of time captured in the raw. Fittingly, Nolan was wearing his favorite spiderman PJs with the webs under the arms and eyes on the hood. He happily posed for his "last photos as a 4 year old".

Nolan's birthday started with his current favorite breakfast - mini chocolate chip pancakes made special with whipped cream and sprinkles! He is also wearing his special birthday crown he made at school. It features several superheros - I think Iron Man is shown in front with his blasting hand.

Being a Monday, it was a regular work/school day but we promised Nolan we'd take him out to eat "anywhere he wanted". In typical 5 year old fashion, out of all places he wanted Burger King - "because it has the indoor playground". We tried to convince him to pick a more traditional restaurant but he insisted and it was his day so Burger King was it!

both kids were super happy playing in the indoor playground at Burger King!

When we got home Nolan was so excited to open the presents from Mommy and Daddy and have cupcakes!

Time to sing happy birthday and have some cupcakes. Each kid got their current favorite colors - Green for Nolan and Yellow for Emmy. Emmy also insisted on wearing her birthday crown like her big brother <3

Thumbs up for a great birthday!
