Hello Second Trimester!!!

Lots to report on! We had our big 12wk ultrasound last Tuesday, and it was the most amazing experience. We got to hear our baby's heartbeat for the first time, and our baby actually looks like a real baby now! It's incredible how much the baby has changed since the last ultrasound. He/she was really active and moving everywhere, and we could see so many details already - head/arms/legs/fingers. Joe couldn't believe I couldn't feel all of that activity, but it's too early. Baby wasn't cooperating with the ultrasound technician too much, which actually gave us more time to watch so we were actually happy about that :)

Here are all our photos!

our current favorite - the "hi mom and dad" profile shot.

We even got a very early gender guess. the technician guessed a boy based on the next shot. It's too early to know for sure though, so we're definitely not going out to buy blue just yet! we'll know for sure at the 20wk ultrasound - sometime in early Dec.

potty shot!

Obviously, we'll be happy with either a boy or a girl! We just want a happy, healthy baby. It will be exciting to know for sure though - just a month and a half away! All in all, the baby looks healthy, which we are overjoyed about. The heartrate was right where it should be, and the baby even measured a week bigger (13.5wks) during my 12.5wk ultrasound. I don't think they'll shift my due date, but maybe it will be an april baby after all!

I'm now into my 13th week, which is the beginning of the 2nd trimester! Nothing has really changed yet - still feeling pretty nauseous, and my hunger hasn't really returned for normal foods yet. Still have decent days and bad days. Hoping to round the corner soon though. It'll be nice to be feeling good through the holidays!

Here's some of the most recent belly shots (12.5wks) taken the night of the last ultrasound. Last shots of the 1st trimester. Joe for the first time noticed a little belly peeking though!
