Strawberry & Raspberry Picking

Last weekend we finally knocked off one of my summer bucket list items: Go berry picking! This has been on my mind since I started seeing my friends in NC go over a month ago, but had to wait since PA is later in the growing season. I'm so glad we went - everyone had an absolute BLAST! Nolan was in love with the hay ride (I don't think he remembered going last time...) and has not stopped talking about "riding the tractor" since! Plus we got some amazingly delicious boxes of strawberries and raspberries - everyone wins!

We went to Linvilla Farms (also where we take our annual pumpkin photos). It was so awesome - you purchase some containers and a $5 token to use towards your pickings, then hop on the wagon and they have various "stops" along the farm for the different picking stations (they had a ton of options besides berries - squash, peaches, cucumbers, etc)

In awe of the tractor!

He didn't stop talking about the tractor ;)

Focused on watching the tractor
First stop off the hayride: Strawberries! We are nearing the end of strawberry season here, so it was a bit of a challenge searching for the good stuff amongst all the pre-picked/squashed berries, but we were able to find quite a bit of delicious ones! Nolan "got it" right away and started picking his little heart out. Whether he picked "good ones" or not... that was a different story ;) But he was so proud of himself every time he found one and declared "HERE'S ONE!" to Daddy (many times squashing the berry in the process!)

Our little strawberry picker!

Daddy showing him what a ripe strawberry looks like

Picking with Mommy. He would not let go of his prized "Brisbee" most of the day!

Picking away

Here's one!! Notice the strawberry-stained shirt already. He fell on a bush :)

Such a beautiful place to pick berries!

These are the days. Melt my heart.

His foot mid-air. My heart explodes.

We couldn't believe he left his hat on the entire time! It certainly made the pictures that much cuter!

Must frame this one.

Heading back to the hayride for round 2 with our strawberry bounty

A little frisbee play while waiting for the ride!

Next stop: Raspberries!

Dad "the raspberry inspector" - Nolan awaiting the verdict :)

The raspberries were much easier to pick than the strawberries. Less bending down, and they just opened the patch so lots of ripe berries to choose from!

Putting the berries in the box

Having SO much fun!

These look good!

Taking them off - trying to be gentle

Here's one!

Waiting for Daddy to check it and put it in the box

Mr. Inspector! The concentration - adorable!

All done! Checking out the final product

Proud boys showing off the berries we picked!

Final shot with the tractor! Nolan wanted to go on it again!
Before we left, we stopped over at the playground and animal farm part of Linvilla (also to calm Nolan down from wanting to go on the tractor again!) He had so much fun, and it's cool to see how much more he can do on the playground from last time!

In the tunnel!

Big boy!

Water break!

Could he be any cuter?

Down the slide with Daddy!
We had such a wonderful time! We love having Linvilla Farms so close by, and we will be back. The summer has just begun (and we already ate all the berries!) :)
