May is almost over, and my little boy is 7 weeks old!
7 weeks old! Love the fist pump and Dino PJs :)
The highlight of this week was Nolan's first mini roadtrip! This past Saturday, we hit the road to visit his abuelos and our friends Brooke and Jordy from grad school. As expected, it took longer than we would've liked to leave as we double/triple checked everything we'd need for the trip. Breastfeeding makes the timing of everything complicated. But we finally put everything together and hit the road. Nolan did great! He loves moving so the only protests we got were when we stopped at a gas station and when we were nearing our destination (how does he sense we're close?!)
We had great visits and got lots of good photos. Here's a bunch from our Ephrata trip:

Three Generations!
After a few hours with the Abuelos, we loaded up and drove out to Hershey to visit our good friends from grad school Brooke and Jordy. They have an (almost) 2 year old daughter, Adalyn, who is adorable! It's so crazy to think about how much has changed since we both lived in NC!

Developments:
Nolan is getting more and more aware with each week - his neck muscles growing stronger and moving his head to check out his surroundings. He loves looking at lights, our living room fan, and of course, batting the toys in his gym. He's better at hitting his targets now and even grabbing them once he comes in contact. He's very strong - he can support himself when I stand him up! Apparently that is a newborn ability that disappears for awhile until they are ready to walk.
He's cooing a lot more in his gym! Check out the video below :)
We've experienced our first stretch of 4hrs of sleep! He slept from 10pm-2am a few nights in a row although this week it's back closer to 3 again. We'll see if 4hrs come back...fingers crossed :) After 2am we're usually back to every 2hrs or so. Still trying to sneak in some naps during the day as well.
He's smiled a few more times - although still hard to catch for a photo. Today I even caught him smiling at his reflection in our baby Einstein "Mirror Me!" book! These blurry photos are the best I could do so far in capturing one :) They are gone in an instant!
Smile caught!
Blurry smile
He's still growing like crazy - the 0-3mo clothes are a big baggy, but the newborn clothes aren't long enough to fit him. He still needs the newborn pants though. I estimated his weight today on the scale and came in around 9.5lbs! Some people have commented that his hair may be lightening as well - we'll see what color it ends up being. His eyes still have a lot of grey, but look like they'll be brown (how dark is a mystery).
A look into my days at home with Nolan:

The many faces of Nolan:

Cranky!
I asked Joe what else to include for this time period and was told "that he's the cutest kid in the world". Can't argue with that I guess... :)
Looking forward to watching this cute kid grow even more! We're keeping the road trips coming - this time to NJ this weekend for memorial day.
