Joe and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary a few weekends ago. November 10th fell on a Saturday for the first time since we've gotten married, which allowed Joe to plan a super secret getaway plan! Our destination? Back to where we got married - the Pocono Mountains of PA.
He booked us at the Shawnee Inn - where we stayed after we got married, and where we held our rehearsal dinner and brunch after the event.

Joe knew exactly what this tired mom needed, and got us a full spa package and cozy little cottage outside the actual hotel with a beautiful fireplace and relaxing jetted tub. We were treated to 2hrs of spa treatments on Saturday afternoon, then a nice dinner at the Shawnee Inn restaurant, and finally one more hour of spa treatment on Sunday before checking out. After our checkout, we had to wander around the property to where we had portraits taken 5 years ago...

As you can see, we were lucky 5 years ago to have more fall colors still around in November - lots more leaves! Hurricane Sandy really brought them all down this year. However, this year was a good amount warmer than 5yrs ago, which would have been nice for our outdoor ceremony!

Then, before heading home, we drove 10min down the road to Stroudsburg, PA and our ceremony/reception site.

We had such a wonderful anniversary weekend! Thanks to Nonna and Aunt Mary Beth for watching Nolan while we were out. We are so thankful to have had such a wonderful wedding experience to always look back on. :) Here's to many many more years of happiness!
