Nolan the 10-weeker!
We've had quite the busy week! Last Monday Nolan had his 2 month doctor visit and first round of vaccines (other than the 1st Hep B shot which was administered after birth by the hospital). He received 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine - his 2nd round of Hep B, Pentacel (combo Dtap + Polio + Hib), Prevnar13 (pneumonia), and Rotavirus (oral). They went as well as can be expected. Poor Nolan didn't know what was coming - he was all smiles and coos to the doctor/nurse then his smile quickly turned to a heartbreaking look of horror as he received the shots in his legs. Tears/shrieks followed, but were quickly subdued by mommy hugs/cuddles. No adverse effects were seen. We're off the hook for more vaccines until his 4 month appointment!
His growth percentiles continue to rise: he weighed in at 10lbs 11oz (26th %), measured 1' 11'' (53rd %), and his head circumference was 15.75'' (50th %). He's still a little peanut, but catching up fast! The doctor was thrilled at his growth, and he is right on target on the growth curves.
Two more of my friends got to meet Nolan this week - last wednesday I met my GSK colleague Shelby for dinner with Nolan, and thursday my high school friend Mary Kay came to visit! I didn't get any photos with Shelby, but we were colleagues down in North Carolina and both ended up moving to PA and staying with GSK. Nolan was a sweetheart during the visit, although requested to be taken out of his carseat and held through most of the dinner :)
Mary Kay also has a son, Timothy, who is almost exactly a month older than Nolan. However, their size difference is almost comical since besides the extra month, Tim is in the 90th growth percentiles and makes little Nolan look like a peanut!

Mary Kay also introduced me to her friend Courtney, who lives in the next town over, and coincidentally has a son, Turner, who was born on the same day as Nolan! Hopefully we can get Nolan and Turner together more often!

One of the best achievements of the week was Nolan officially sleeping "through the night" (doctors call this anything over 5hrs straight). The past 2 nights he has slept 6 hrs, and 7 hrs straight, respectively. He goes to bed around 9/9:30pm, which means he's getting up around 3/4am to eat (and then goes back to sleep for another few hours). In order to take more advantage, I need to get used to going to sleep earlier, and untrain my body to wake up when he used to wake up (2am or so). In any case, we're very happy, and hope he keeps this going!

yay I sleep more at night!
One of the worst events of the week was me developing Mastitis in my left breast. I felt pretty bad all day Thursday (achy, exhausted, etc) then that night had horrible chills/hot flashes. I got up in the middle of the night in a sweat and measured a temp of 100.5F. This is so common among breast feeding moms that I called it in my OB in the morning and they just called over an antibiotic prescription to my pharmacy without me having to come in. It worked right away and I'm feeling back to normal, but need to finish the antibiotic through this week.

boo to Infections!
We have a lot to look forward to this week - Joe's first father's day on Sunday, and I'm taking Nolan in to meet my coworkers on Friday. Plus a visit from Nonna and maybe Poppa Specs!
